Hiatus

Life has a funny way of getting in the way .

Currently, life has gotten in the way of the time I have to seek out new tunes for my blog.  So, for now, I’m on hiatus.

This will be a break of a few months, and not years (I hope.)

Until then…thanks for stopping by, and hopefully you’ll browse around, and, hopefully, you’ll find some new tunes.

“Love The Way You Walk Away” by Blitzen Trapper

Not only do I really, really, really like this song, I also really, really, really want to hang out with these guys.

Why do I want to hang out with them?

Watch the video and see for yourself.

“Isn’t It Strange” by Parralox

As someone who Came of Age during the 80s, the music of that decade is part of the soundtrack of my life. So, I am always a bit partial to music that has an 80s feel to it. This song, by Australia’s Parralox has a certain 80s groove going. It reminds me of … I don’t know…there’s a song floating around just at the edge of my brain, but I can’t seem to pluck it out of the ether. This song isn’t all 80s: the sound is more Right Now than it is Back Then. There’s just something about it that makes me a little nostalgic.

And, I’ve now thought of the song “Isn’t It Strange” reminds me of: “Don’t You Want Me” by Human League.  (Having plucked the tune from the ether makes me happy, as it’s confirmation that age may have slowed the memory, but it hasn’t robbed it all away.)

It’s an awesome tune. Check it out — and turn up the volume.

“Jealousy” by Will Young (Because It’s My New Favorite Song Of The Moment)

No, I am not above posting photos of shirtless men to attract readers.

Ten years ago, Will won Britain’s Pop Idol. Four albums, and one “Hits” album later, Young’s newest album, Echoes, was released in the U.K. last month (there seems to be no word on a U.S. release date). “Jealousy” is the first single from the new album.

“Love Don’t Wait” by Michael Franti & Spearhead (Because We All Need Some Feel-Good Music On A Saturday Night)

I was sitting here, trying to play Catch-Up, and this song popped up on my player.  I hadn’t heard it in quite awhile, and, after hitting the replay button a few times, I realized I should not keep the groove to myself.  So, here it is — a bit pop, a lot reggae, and a tremendous amount of Feel Good.

Sadly, there is no Official Video for this song, which comes from Franti’s 2010 album, The Sound of Sunshine.  So, I went for the shirtless photo of Franti, for something interesting to look at while the song is playing.

I’ve been looking forward to a new release by Florence & The Machine.  Thankfully, I won’t have to wait much longer.  The new album (as yet untitled) will be out on November 7, 2011.
